i
Vehicle seat headrest assembly and vehicle seat comprising such an assembly
The present invention relates to seat headrest assemblies for vehicles and to vehicle seats comprising such assemblies.
There is known a headrest assembly comprising a single pin on which is mounted a support structure for supporting the head of a seat occupant, the support structure being for example adjustable in height relative to the seat back by sliding of the headrest pins in the backrest structure. With such assemblies, it is necessary to adapt the structure of the backrests so that they can cooperate with the single pin of the headrests. Indeed, the standard folder structures are suitable for headrests comprising two pins. Such a modification leads to a significant increase in manufacturing costs.
There is also known a headrest assembly comprising two pins on which the support structure is mounted, the support structure being for example adjustable in height. The pins of the headrest assembly are adapted to be placed in housings provided in the backrest structure and to pass through a plastic plate secured to the backrest in order to improve the final rendering of the backrest.
Thus, such a backrest-headrest assembly comprises a large number of parts, and is therefore long and expensive to manufacture and assemble. In particular, it is necessary to assemble the plastic plate on the backrest beforehand and make sure that it is properly aligned with the backrest housings to allow the headrest to be assembled on the backrest.
The present invention aims to solve these drawbacks. The present invention relates in particular to a headrest assembly which is more aesthetically pleasing, easier and less expensive to manufacture and simple to use.
Thus, the invention relates to a headrest assembly for a vehicle seat comprising:
- two pins each extending substantially in an adjustment direction between a lower end and an upper end, each of the two pins having a mounting part comprising the lower end and intended to be fixed to a seat back, a part of adjustment comprising the upper end, and an intermediate part between the mounting part and the adjustment part, - and a support structure adapted to support the head of a user.
the headrest assembly further comprises an interface made of overmolded plastic material and interconnecting the intermediate parts of the two pins.
Thanks to these provisions, the headrest assembly is simpler and less expensive to manufacture and is suitable for all standard files. It is thus possible to improve the shape and appearance of the intermediate part of the pins, in particular by overmolding, without limiting the functions of the headrest.
In various embodiments of the invention, one can optionally have recourse to one and / or the other of the following provisions:
the headrest assembly further comprises one which covers the adjustment plate integral with the adjustment part of each of the two pins, the support structure being mounted adjustable in translation on the adjustment plate according to the adjustment direction ; thus, the seat occupant can adjust the height of the headrest, thereby improving the general comfort of the seat;
- the adjustment plate is made of plastic overmolded on the adjustment part of each of the two pins; thus the adjustment plate is simple and economical to produce;
- The interface is molded in one piece on the pins with the adjustment plate so as to form a support structure, the support structure being made in one piece; thus a single step is necessary for the manufacture of the support structure, reducing the general cost of the headrest;
- the adjustment plate is at least partially molded by the interface;
- The two pins are metallic, and in intermediate parts of the pins are at least partially by the molded interface; thus, the headrest has a general external appearance of a single-spindle headrest while being suitable for upper crosspieces of standard file frames having two insertion holes for the headrest pins, there is no 'is therefore not necessary to modify the upper cross members of back frames and there is no increase in the manufacturing costs of the supports; in addition, the metal pins make it possible to meet the security constraints of holding the supports;
- the intermediate parts of the pins are completely covered by the molded interface;
- the interface is massive; improving the general strength of the headrest;
- the interface is molded in one piece on the intermediate parts of the pins;
- The intermediate part of each of the pins has a recess having a base extending in a transverse direction perpendicular to the adjustment direction and two elbows connecting said base to the other portions of pins extending in the adjustment direction; thus the general appearance of the headrest is improved, the visibility of the other passengers of the vehicle is improved, while respecting the security constraints.
The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a headrest assembly according to the invention, comprising at least one step consisting in:
- injection molding a plastic interface so as to connect two pins together. Thus, the method of manufacturing the headrest comprises few steps and then allows rapid assembly of the headrest on the back of a seat, reducing the general costs of said headrest.
In various embodiments of the method according to the invention, one can optionally have recourse to one and / or the other of the following embodiments:
- Two metal pins are placed in a mold, and in which plastic injection molding is carried out to overmold the interface at least partially on an intermediate part of each of the pins; overmolding operations are economical and reduce the general cost of manufacturing the headrest,
the method comprising at least one step consisting in injection molding of plastic material, an adjustment plate by overmolding an adjustment part of each of the pins;
- There is an adjustment plate in a mold, and in which the plastic injection molding is carried out to overmold the interface at least partially on the adjustment plate;
- comprising at least the steps of joining the adjustment plate to an adjustment part of the two metal pins, placing the assembly formed by the adjustment plate and the two pins in the mold, injection-molding the interface by overmolding the intermediate part of the two pins and the adjustment plate.
The invention also relates to a seat comprising a backrest and a headrest assembly according to the invention, in which the two pins are integral with the backrest.
Advantageously, the file comprises an upper part from which the pins extend and said upper part is covered (at least in the vicinity of the pins) by the interface, so that the interface makes it possible to hide:
- seams or other elements allowing the connection of the backrest cover at the level of the passage of the pins of the headrest assembly,
- the holes allowing the passage of the pins and
- the padding present under the cap.
Of course, the various characteristics, variants and / or embodiments of the present invention can be associated with one another in various combinations insofar as they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive of each other.
The present invention will be better understood and other characteristics and advantages will become apparent on reading the detailed description which follows, comprising an embodiment given by way of illustration with reference to the appended figures, presented by way of nonlimiting examples, which could be used to complete the understanding of the present invention and the description of its realization and, if necessary, contribute to its definition, on which:

- Figure 4 is an exploded view of the headrest support assembly according to the invention comprising head of Figure 3 and - Figure 5 is a perspective view of a support structure of the assembly headrest of figure 3.
It should be noted that, in the figures, the structural and / or functional elements common to the different embodiments may have the same references. Thus, unless otherwise stated, such elements have identical structural, dimensional and material properties.
For the sake of clarity, only the elements useful for understanding the described embodiments have been shown and will be detailed.
In the following description, when referring to qualifiers of absolute position, such as the terms 'front', 'back', 'up', 'down', 'left', 'right', etc., or relative, such as the terms 'above', 'below', 'upper', 'lower', etc., or to orientation qualifiers, reference is made to a
headquarters, and in particular at a headrest, in a position normal use of it in the direction of ordinary progression of vehicle. Figure 1 represents a seat 1 of vehicle
automobile having a seat 2 intended to receive an occupant of the seat 1 and a backrest 3 carrying a headrest 4. The seat 3 is fixed to a fixed structure 5, in particular to the floor of the vehicle.
The headrest 4 more precisely comprises a headrest assembly 6. As illustrated in FIG. 2, the headrest assembly 6 can be connected to a frame 7 of the backrest 3.
The frame 7 supports a padding for example covered by a cap 7 'which constitutes the visible part of the backrest 3 in nominal use of the seat 1. The cap 7' therefore hides the frame 7 and the padding from view. The set of padding and cap 7 ′ can generally be designated by the term trim.
The headrest assembly 6 is connected to the backrest 2 via a support structure 8. The support structure 8 comprises two pins 9a, 9b. The two pins 9a, 9b of the support structure 8 are parallel to each other, extending substantially in an adjusting direction Z. The two pins 9a, 9b are of generally cylindrical external section. The two pins 9a, 9b are preferably metallic, but may be made of another material, such as plastic for example, or the like. The two pins 9a, 9b extend respectively between an upper end 25a, 25b and a lower end 26a, 26b. The two pins 9a, 9b respectively comprise a mounting part 14a, 14b comprising the lower end 26a, 26b. The mounting part 14a, 14b is adapted to be fixed to the frame 7 of the backrest 3. The two pins 9a, 9b further comprise respectively an adjusting part 16a, 16b comprising the upper end 25a, 25b. The two pins 9a, 9b further comprise respectively an intermediate part 20a, 20b included between the mounting part 14a, 14b and the adjustment part 16a, 16b.
In the raised position of the backrest, the two pins 9a, 9b extend upwards from an upper part 3a of the backrest (Figure 1).
Alternatively, the support structure 8 may comprise a single metal tube of generally cylindrical external section and having an inverted U shape. Each of the side walls of the U forming one of the branches 9a, 9b and can be divided into a mounting part, an intermediate part and an adjustment part. The base of the U forms a cross-piece connecting together the two side walls forming the pins 9a, 9b.
Each of the two pins 9a, 9b can be straight. More particularly, the upper end 25a, 25b and the lower end 26a, 26b of each of the two pins 9a, 9b are aligned on the same straight line.
As a variant, and as shown in FIG. 4, the support structure 8 can comprise two pins 9a, 9b of generally cylindrical external section and whose intermediate parts 20a, 20b respectively comprise a recess 21.
The recess 21 comprises a base 21a extending in a transverse direction Y, perpendicular to the direction of adjustment Z, and two elbows 21b connecting said
basedaccording to 21 to other pin portions 9a, 9b extending the direction of Z setting. Alternatively, the dropout 21 can present a form of inclined U. The dropout 21 includes two
lateral branches substantially parallel to the transverse direction and a base substantially parallel to the adjustment direction Z connecting the two lateral branches.
The support structure 8 may further comprise an adjustment plate 11. The adjustment plate 11 is, for example, a plate of substantially rectangular shape having a front face 11a and a rear face 11b. The adjustment plate 11 extends in the transverse direction Y between the two pins 9a, 9b. The adjustment plate 11 is notably fixed at the level of the mounting parts 14a, 14b of the pins 9a, 9b. The adjustment plate 11 is thus secured to the pins 9a, 9b.
The front face 11a of the adjustment plate 11 can comprise at least one indented element, and in the embodiment shown, two indented elements 12a, 12b, also called racks, comprising notches 13.
Each of the notches 13 can comprise, for example, a stop portion 13a having a surface ίο perpendicular to the adjustment direction Z, in particular oriented upwards, and a ramp 13b on the opposite side of the notch 13. Thus, the notches 13 have an advantageously asymmetrical profile. The arrangement of the notches 13 on the adjustment plate 11 makes it possible to create a distance, called pitch, between two notches 13, for example, to achieve a pitch less than or equal to 5 mm.
The headrest assembly 6 may further comprise a support structure 17. The support structure 17 comprises a front face 17a, in particular capable of supporting a head of an occupant of the seat 1, and a rear face 17b. The support structure 17 also comprises two lateral faces 17c included respectively between the front face 17a and the rear face 17b. The support structure 17, in particular the front and rear faces 17a, 17b, can be covered with padding and / or with a covering cap shown schematically in phantom in Figure 2. Thus, an occupant of the seat can rest its head on the front face 17a of the support structure 17 when it is in a sitting position on the seat 1.
The headrest 4 can be adjustable in the direction of adjustment Z. The support structure 17 can be movably mounted on the support structure 8 in translation in the direction of adjustment Z. The support structure 17 is more particularly mounted movably on the adjusting plate 11 in translation in the adjusting direction Z. The support structure 17 thus makes it possible to adjust the position of the headrest 4 relative to the backrest 2. In particular, the headrest 4, in particular the support structure 17, can be adjusted between a low position and a high position.
In addition, the adjustment plate 11 comprises ribs 22 or advantageously deformable guide elements 23 which project and extend along the adjustment direction Z. These ribs 22 or guide elements 23 are more particularly situated at the level of the upper ends 25a, 25b of pins 9a, 9b. These ribs 22 or guide elements 23 serve to guide the sliding support structure 17 on the adjustment plate 11 in the adjustment direction Z.
In order to lock the position of the support structure 17 relative to the adjustment plate 11, the headrest assembly 6, in particular the support structure 17 may also include a locking system 18.
The locking system 18 comprises at least one locking wire 19. The locking wire 19 is in particular supported and guided by the support structure 17.
In particular, the support structure 17, and in particular the lateral face 17a, comprises an operating button 25. The operating button 25 is connected to the locking wire 19 by means of a cylindrical opening 26 arranged on a lateral face 17c of the support structure 17. The operating button 25 can be actuated by a user of the seat 1 by depressing, between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the locking wire 19 cooperates with at least one of the notches 13 of the adjustment plate 11 to prevent the translational movement in the adjustment direction Z of the support structure 17, at least in one direction of movement . In the unlocked position, the locking wire 19 allows the translational movement in the direction of adjustment Z of the support structure 17. It is then possible to adjust the position of the headrest 4, and in particular of the support structure 17, with respect to the backrest 2. A return member 28, for example a spring, makes it possible to elastically urge the operating button 25 towards the locked position.
Such a locking system 18 is known per se and will not be described in more detail. For example, the document FR 13 59125 describes for example a headrest adjustable in height comprising a locking system for selectively locking and unlocking the support structure 17 of the headrest 4.
The support structure 8 can also comprise two sheaths 30a, 30b. The sheaths 30a, 30b are more particularly fixed to the mounting parts 14a, 14b of the pins 9a, 9b. The sheaths 30a, 30b respectively surround the mounting parts 14a, 14b of the pins 9a, 9b. Each of the sheaths 30a, 30b may be formed by a tubular body having an axis in the direction of adjustment Z. Each of the sheaths 30a, 30b also comprises a circular or square section. The sheaths 30a, 30b are preferably identical to each other.
The mounting parts 14a, 14b, in particular each of the sheaths 30a, 30b, are adapted to be arranged in housings, such as sockets provided in the frame 7 of the backrest 3, or are adapted to be fixed directly to the backrest 3. It is thus possible to fix the support structure 8 fixedly to the backrest 2 as shown in FIG. 2.
In order to block the headrest 4 on the backrest 3, each of the sheaths 30a, 30b may further comprise a blocking system 31. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the blocking system 31 comprises two elements of two ducts 30a, 30b in blocking blocking the back frame 7.
Such sheaths 30a, 30b and such a locking system 31 are known per se and will not be described in more detail.
The support structure 8 can also include an interface 15. The interface 15 connects the two pins 9a, 9b to each other. More particularly, the interface 15 connects the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b between them. More particularly, the interface 15 connects the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b at the junction between the mounting part 14a, 14b and the intermediate part 20a, 20b in order to improve the appearance of the seat 1 and more particularly the appearance of the connection between the backrest 3 and the headrest 4.
The interface 15 is massive. By massive, it is understood in particular that the interface 15 does not include any discontinuity. The interface 15 connects the two pins 9a, 9b together in one piece.
The interface 15 covers each of the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the two pins 9a, 9b. The interface 15 thus at least partially covers the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b.
In particular, the interface 15 can cover an upper external part of the backrest 3. More particularly, the interface 15 can cover the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b opposite the covering system 7 'of the lining. The interface 15 makes it possible to hide seams and / or cutouts made on the styling system to close it and / or to allow the passage of the pins
9a, 9b. The interface 15 also makes it possible to hide from the view of the user the holes allowing the passage of the pins 9a, 9b and the padding present under the styling system 7 '.
In particular, the interface 15 can completely cover the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b, located in the direction of adjustment Z between the sheaths 30a, 30b and the adjustment plate 11. Alternatively, the interface 15 can cover integrally the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b, located in the direction of adjustment Z between the covering system 7 'of the lining and the adjustment plate 11. The headrest assembly 6 thus has an aspect of 'headrest 4 mono-spindle while being adapted to the frames 7 of standard backrests 3 for headrest 4 with two pins.
Because the adjustment plate 11 is located on the adjustment parts 16a, 16b of the pins 9a, 9b, the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b, in particular the interface 15, are not used to allow adjustment height of the headrest 4. In particular, the sliding of the headrest 4 is carried out exclusively by the sliding of the support structure 17, in particular at the level of the adjustment parts 16a, 16b of the pins 9a, 9b . It is not necessary for the headrest 4 to slide with respect to the backrest 3 at the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b, and in particular at the interface 15. In particular, the support structure 17 can hide the interface 15 when it slides from a high position to a low position. Thus, it is possible to modify the appearance of the interface 15 by a particular graining, hollow patterns and / or protruding patterns, an addition of color, shape or relief, decorative element 32 can be colored plastic, wood, metal or carbon. Indeed, especially in the high position of the headrest 4, the support structure 17 does not cover the interface
15. In addition, in an intermediate position of the appuitête 4, the support structure 17 partially covers the interface 15. The interface 15 is generally thus visible to an occupant.
According to the invention, the adjustment plate 11 and the interface 15 are formed in one piece. By a single piece, it is understood in particular that the adjustment plate 11 and the interface 15 are formed without material discontinuity. Optionally, the adjustment plate 11, the interface 15 and the sheaths 30a, 30b are formed in one piece.
According to the invention, the interface 15 is molded onto the pins 9a, 9b. More particularly, the interface 15 is molded onto the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b. Optionally, the interface 15 is overmolded on the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b and at least partially on the adjustment plate 11. Optionally, the adjustment plate 11 and the interface 15 are overmolded on the pins 9a, 9b, the adjustment plate 11 being overmolded on the adjustment parts 16a, 16b and the interface 15 being overmolded on the intermediate parts 20a, 20b. Optionally, the adjustment plate 11, the interface 15 and the sheaths 30a, 30b are overmolded on the pins 9a, 9b, the adjustment plate 11 being overmolded on the adjustment parts 16a, 16b, the interface 15 being overmolded on the intermediate parts 20a, 20b and the sheaths 30a, 30b being overmolded on the mounting portions 14a, 14b.
The interface 15 and / or the adjustment plate 11 and / or the sheaths 30a, 30b are preferably overmolded in a plastic material on the pins 9a, 9b.
Because the interface 15, the adjustment plate 11 and for example the sheaths 30a, 30b are overmolded on the pins 9a, 9b, the support structure 8 is advantageously made in one piece. By a single piece, it should be understood that the pins 9a, 9b cannot be separated by a user from the interface 15 and from the adjustment plate 11, and possibly from the sheaths 30a, 30b.
In particular, the support structure 8 comprises, in a single element, elements which are usually distinct and separated from one another in appuities, such as the interface, the plate, the sheaths or the ribs and guide elements. This results in an easy and economical appuitête 4 to manufacture. The headrest 4 also proves to be easier to use.
The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing the headrest assembly 6, in particular a method of overmolding the two pins 9a, 9b.
In a first step of the manufacturing process, the metal pins 9a, 9b are placed in a mold. In a second step of the manufacturing process, the mold is closed and the plate 11 and the interface 15 are molded by injection of plastic material, by overmolding the adjusting parts 16a, 16b and the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins respectively. 9a, 9b. A support structure 8 is thus formed comprising the pins 9a, 9b and on which the adjustment plate 11 and the interface 15 are overmolded. As discussed above, sheaths 30a, 30b can also be overmolded in this same step around pins 9a, 9b, especially at the mounting parts 14a, 14b pins 9a, 9b.
According to a variant, the adjustment plate 11 is secured to the adjustment parts 16a, 16b of the metal pins 9a, 9b and the assembly formed by the adjustment plate 11 and the pins 9a, 9b is placed in a mold. In a second step of the manufacturing process, the mold is closed and the interface 15 is molded by injection of plastic material, by overmolding the intermediate parts 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b and possibly at least partially the adjustment plate 11. A support structure 8 is thus formed comprising the pins 9a, 9b and the adjustment plate 11 on which the interface 15 are overmolded. As discussed above, sheaths 30a, 30b can also be overmolded in this same step around the pins 9a, 9b, in particular at the level of the mounting parts 14a, 14b of the pins 9a, 9b.
The pins 9a, 9b, and in particular the intermediate part 20a, 20b of the pins 9a, 9b, therefore come to be covered with plastic material and are connected by said plastic material.
The present invention also relates to a seat 1 comprising a backrest 3 and a headrest 4 as described above, in which the pins 9a, 9b are integral with the backrest 3, in particular of the frame 7 of the backrest 3, so that the support structure 17 is adjustable in height with respect to the backrest 3.
Obviously, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and provided only by way of example. It includes various modifications, alternative forms and other variants that a person skilled in the art may envisage within the framework of the present invention and in particular any combination of the different operating modes described above, which can be taken separately or in combination.
